Subject	Buying used vs. rebuilding a trans, what to look for?

Message	A: When deciding to service a transmission by completely rebuilding it, Is this even a logical and recommended approach? And What things should you look for in a shop that is going to rebuild a transmission for you, I. E. To what extent should they go into replacing components, servicing it, etc? B: When buying a used transmission, what things can you look for on the trans when it's no longer in the car. For example leaks, play in components etc. Obviously there's option C, which would be by a brandnew trans, However I'm wondering if I should go that route yet with a 98+ since I've heard of issues etc.
